Research Programs
Research ProgramsWAHRI exists to provide research answers to counter the present and looming threat posed to the highly productive, export-focussed Australian grain industry from herbicide resistance and crop weed problems in general. WAHRI is focussed on strategic and applied research to minimise the adverse impact on Australian cropping of herbicide resistance and crop weeds. Research activities extend from research on the biology and population ecology of major weed species, through cultural and chemical management strategies to economic and sociological appraisal of farmer/industry responses to herbicide resistance. There are five programs that make up the current research base of WAHRI. These are: Program A. Resistance Evolution; Leader: Roberto Busi Program B. Resistance Mechanisms; Leader: Stephen Powles Program C. Resistance Management; Leader: Michael Walsh Program D. Modelling; Leader: Michael Renton Program E. Extension; Leader: David Minkey |
