Dr Yu Qin is a Plant Physiologist and Biochemist. Dr Yu received her B.Sc (Biology) and M.Sc (Botany) in China and, completed her Ph.D jointly with South China Agricultural University and UWA. She returned to UWA from Germany in August 2001 to investigate herbicide resistance mechanisms in weeds with a focus on paraquat resistance in Lolium rigidum.
